Under the Wanaka wharf

Have a look at this great video made by Max B. He used a Go-Pro to film under the Wanaka wharf - there are lots of interesting things down there! A few that need to be cleaned up too!

Healthy Lunch...

Have a look at this great poem Tayla D wrote - she used Kenn Nesbitt's poem "A Funny Food Poem" as a model.

Healthy lunch poem

An orange nectarine
A muesli bar
A bright red apple
A brown banana will rot by far

A big juicy orange
A berry milkshake
A little baby pear
Totally not steak

Some fresh OJ
A fun avocado
Some juicy jam
A tasty tomato

A pointy pear
A banana for brunch
That's something not to share

I slept in while Mum made lunch

Rubber Egg!

We have been looking at a few science experiments for our Home Learning.

Check out the Bouncing Egg experiment that Harry did - he took it a bit further to see if there was a difference between water and vinegar and their effect on the egg.

Have a look at this awesome video that he made!

Egg-citing science!!

Today we tried out a science eggsperiment  - floating eggs! We are learning to write explanations and draw scientific diagrams to explain our thinking about WHY or HOW we think something happened.
Check back later to see our labelled diagrams to find out what the eggsperiment actually was - can you work it out from our photos?

Daily 5 - Read to Someone

Read to someone is another way for us to improve our reading. Reading out loud is a great way for us to improve our fluency - the flow and expression of our reading.

We read with a biddy and our buddy is there to be our coach - help us if we get stuck! But our buddy isn't just allowed to give us the answer - they have to help by giving us time to work out the word on our own and then suggesting ways that we could use to work out our words.

We are getting really good at reading to our buddies - we make sure we are in our own space and that we can both read the book. We also make sure we take turns and listen carefully to our buddy so that we can help them if we need to.
